New Friend

I'm Holly and this is MY Zone so I'll be writing my own blog posts from now on. Today, I discovered that I can growl and I made a new friend, in that order. Here is a picture of us together. I played all morning and then had a long nap on the sofa. Now it's playtime again.

The Homecoming

The big day finally dawned: Thursday, December 18. Holly came home! She took to all the changes in her stride: the car ride, new faces and new spaces. Once home, after a quick investigation of the new surroundings, it was time for dinner, trying out the new toys, followed by a snooze on the new bed. Then she stayed up late getting to know her new master. Her first night in her new home passed without as much as a whimper.

On day 1 I discovered that Holly was a 'morning' dog as the fun and games started before 7 am. She played with all her toys and then it was my turn. She also has a fine appetite and quickly figured out where the food comes from. The garden was explored several times during the day. In the evening she was on her best behaviour, keeping a close eye on the friends who came to dinner.

Today's cuteness rating: 10/10

What's in a name?

Holly's official name is Hrabina Van het Goralenhof. What a mouthful! Hrabina means 'countess' in Polish but we have no idea how to pronounce it yet. The reason she has a Polish name is because she is a Polish Lowland Sheepdog. They are called PONs from the Polish name of the breed: POLSKI OWCZAREK NIZINNY. They are also called NIZINNYs.

Five days old!

The earliest pictures of Holly. Here she is 5 days old. This was before she 'lost' her tail. We hope she learns to smile (like Flossie used to) to make up for not having a tail to wag.
